Samsung Working On A Roller Laptop, WIPO Patent Spotted

Samsung roller laptop has popped up on the WIPO patent website. It appears to have a rollable keyboard and display.

Samsung is gearing up for the imminent launch of its foldable devices. Notably, some of these devices including Samsung’s Flexible display phone have already surfaced online.

Moreover, Samsung’s sliding phone and a slidable display with S Pen support have been spotted in the wild. These devices have also appeared on WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation).

Now, the same platform has listed a new Samsung roller laptop. The listing on the patent platform showcases the rollable laptop’s design.

The images and descriptions on the WIPO patent website shed some light on the purported Samsung laptop. First off, images and descriptions confirm that the upcoming laptop will adopt a roller design.

In other words, the upcoming Samsung laptop will sport a roller design. In other words, the laptop will fit inside a cylindrical roller.

Further, the patent images suggest that users will have to pull up to bring the laptop’s screen up. This could be similar to a projector screen.

Also, users might have to pull the keyboard forward to access it, as per a report by MySmartPrice. It will offer a full laptop experience once you pull the screen and keyboard out.

Moreover, users might be able to slide the screen and keyboard down. This will put the whole laptop component inside the small cylinder-like roller.

Users will be able to carry it around either in a bag or in their bare hands. This design gives us an idea of what Samsung could be working on to make laptops more portable.

However, details about the material or the screen type on the Samsung roller laptop are still scarce. According to the description, the display can extend in two directions using a display wound in two layers around a roller.

So, the machine is likely to feature an extendable/flexible screen. It is unclear whether the roller laptop will come with a physical or virtual keyboard.
