Apple’s iPhones are 2022’s best-selling smartphones. Counterpoint Research has revealed that the American tech giant bagged eight spots in the list of top 10 best-selling smartphones of the year. Notably, Apple is the first brand to achieve this feat.
The company’s arch-rival Samsung grabbed the rest of the spots with the help of its budget Galaxy A-series smartphones. According to the Counterpoint Research data, the iPhone 13 was Apple’s best-selling phone last year.
The iPhone 13 retained the best-selling phone spot for eight months and the second best-selling for a month. The handset was the 4th best-selling in the last three months. The iPhone 13’s decline in the ranking can be attributed to the arrival of the iPhone 14 series.
To recap, Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus at its Far Out 2022 event in September. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is Apple’s second best-selling device. It retained the spot for 8 months before slipping to the 7th spot in September and October.

In November 2022, the iPhone 13 Pro Max came down to the 11th spot and further dropped to the 15th spot in the list in December 2022. The Cupertino-based tech firm launched the iPhone 14 Pro Max in September 2022. The phone grabbed the number 1 spot in September, October, and November, but slipped to the second spot in December.
Samsung Galaxy A13 & Galaxy A03 Appear On The List Of Global Top 10 Smartphones
Likewise, the iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 12, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone SE 2022 occupied the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th spots, respectively. Samsung’s Galaxy A13 grabbed the 4th spot, while the Galaxy A03 occupied the 10th spot. It is worth mentioning here that these are budget smartphones, unlike iPhones on the list that carry steep price tags.
If rumors making the rounds online prove to be true, Apple is on the verge of unveiling the iPhone 15 series. All next-gen iPhones are expected to get Dynamic Island and boast a slew of other awe-inspiring features. In the meantime, Apple has released a new yellow color option for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.
This will be the sixth shade for the non-Pro iPhone 14 models. The non-Pro lineup was already available in purple, blue, starlight, (PRODUCT) RED, and midnight shades.
