A myriad of video game adaptations will arrive on Netflix soon, much to the delight of avid gamers and those who like binge-watch Netflix shows. So, without further ado, let’s dive straight into the details.
Pokemon Master Journeys: The Series
Release Date: Sept. 10, 2021
This is not a Netflix original. However, the Pokemon Journeys anime will be available on Netflix in the US. The show revolves around Ash, who is fighting World Coronation Series along with Goh.
The Witcher: Season 2
Release Date: Dec. 17, 2021
This season will show Princess Cirilla training along with other witchers of Kaer Morhen, while learning to take advantage of her powerful magical abilities. The story switches between Sapkowski’s short story collection The Last Wish and his first Witcher novel Blood of Elves.
Angry Birds: Summer Madness
Release Date: TBA 2021
In 2020, Netflix said that it is hard at work on an Angry Birds animated series. The family-friendly show is graced by teenage versions of Stella, Bomb, Chuck, and Red. The show follows their adventures at Camp Splinterwood.
Arcane
Released Date: Fall 2021
This limited-run series is based on League of Legends, and it is Riot Games’ first TV adaptation. It will shed light on the origin stories of two champions of the game, sisters Vi and Jinx. The action switches between the utopian Piltover and the ill-treated underground of Zaun.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
Released Date: 2022
In June 2020, Netflix announced its plan to release an anime set in the universe of Cyberpunk 2077. The 10-episode limited series does not follow the game’s plot but focuses on a street kid turned mercenary. The series will be directed by Kill la Kill’s Hiroyuki Imaishi.

Sonic Prime
Released Date: 2022
Sonic the Hedgehog will go through the multiverse in the aforesaid animated series that has 24 episodes. According to Netflix, Blue Blur will be on a journey of “self-discovery and redemption.” The project is helmed by Man of Action Entertainment.
Assassin’s Creed

Back in October, Netflix and Ubisoft revealed that they have signed a deal to develop a genre-bending live-action adaptation of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. This franchise will be written by Jeb Stuart.
Beyond Good & Evil
Release Date: TBD
Director Rob Letterman is hard at work on a film adaptation of the adventure game that will combine action with animation. Regrettably, details about the project have been scarce since it was announced in July 2020.
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix

This is an anime adaptation of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, which was announced by Netflix in June. It is a six-episode project that has Castlevania’s Adi Shankar at the helm. It is directed by Mehdi Leffad and animated by Bobbypills.
Expanded Castlevania Universe

Before the current Castlevania series concluded its four-season run in May, Netflix had announced that it would be streaming a new series set in the same universe. However, the series will feature different characters.
The Cuphead Show!

Wayne Brady plays the main antagonist of the animated series, King Dice. The series revolves around the adventures of the impulsive Cuphead and his brother Mugman. Despite adopting the 1930s animation style of the 2017 game, the show has an original comedic story that centers on the characters.
Devil May Cry

Shankar is currently developing anime based on the Capcom game for his popular Bootleg Multiverse. This project is different from the 2007 Japanese show Devil May Cry: The Animated Series.
The Division

The Division film will be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber and it will feature Jake Gyllenhall and Jessica Chastain. Ellen Shanman will be writing the adaptation. It is based on the Ubisoft game and follows a group of civilians who are bent on saving the remaining population of New York after a virus spreads through the city.
DOTA: Dragon’s Blood – Season 2

The first season of the animated show was released in March, and it was based on the MOBA. In April, Netflix confirmed that a second season is just around the corner.
Dragon’s Lair

Ryan Reynolds was reportedly in talks to play the knight Dirk the Daring in a live-action adaptation of the arcade game that was released in 1983. There haven’t been any updates since.
Pokemon

The live-action adaptation of Pokemon will be written and co-produced by Lucifer co-showrunner Joe Henderson. The show tries to build on the success of Detective Pikachu. The series is currently in early development.
Resident Evil

Lance Reddick plays the mad scientist Albert Wesker in this upcoming live-action series set about three decades after the release of the T-virus. The cast members include Paola Núñez, Adeline Rudolph, Siena Agudong, Tamara Smart, and Ella Balinska.
Splinter Cell

The animated series draws inspiration from the Ubisoft franchise, with John Wick creator Derek Kolstad writing it. According to Kolstad, each season will develop the hero. The lead character could be black ops agent Sam Fisher.
Tomb Raider

Tasha Huo will write and executive produce the anime series. It happens after Crystal Dynamics’ recent game trilogy. Legendary Entertainment and dj2 Entertainment will participate in the project.
The Witcher: Blood Origin

Declan De Barra, who wrote The Witcher and Iron Fist, will be the showrunner for this live-action, limited series. It focuses on 1,200 years before the events of the main show. The story revolves around the creation of the first Witcher.
