Much to the chagrin of his followers, Twitter CEO Elon Musk recently decided to go private on the social media platform for a test.
To recap, Elon Musk purchased Twitter for a whopping $44 billion in October 2022. The 51-year-old business magnate has introduced a myriad of changes since then.
Despite this, Twitter users have complained about experiencing notification glitches, playback hiccups, audio errors, and so on. So, it looks like Musk has taken matters into his own hands.
Elon Musk Goes Private On Twitter
Musk recently decided to set his Twitter account to private to test whether users can “see [his] private tweets more than [his] public ones.” Over 50 percent of his 127 million followers claimed they were unable to see tweets from Musk, according to a report by Dexerto.
Other Twitter users mocked Musk for laying off the very people who usually conducted such a test. “Twitter’s algorithm is in such a poor state to the point the CEO has to do field experiments instead of, you know, an engineering department,” journalist Steve Vegvari pointed out.
It’s genuinely hysterical that Elon Musk has locked his account to test the working theory that private accounts see improved engagement.

Others were also quick to make fun of Musk’s decision of going private on Twitter.

Earlier today, Musk set his account public again. He will probably share the results of the test in the coming days.
