xQc claims ‘Minecraft’ streamers do not want to stop fans from stanning over them

Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel accused Minecraft streamers of abusing stan culture. The Twitch star claims they “feel empowered” from their cult-like followings.

xQc implied that Minecraft streamers do not stop their fans from “stanning” over them. The Minecraft YouTuber fandom has drawn flak, with Dream and other streamers facing a fair share of criticism recently.

Charlie ‘MoistCr1TiKaL’ White described those stans as “toxic” and “unhealthy.” The statement came after Minecraft streamer TommyInnit said he needed to seek therapy after some fans attacked him on social media.

However, xQc didn’t seem to agree with that view. He disagreed with Cr1TiKaL’s view that there are several things Minecraft streamers can do to curb bad behavior from their fans, including a “blanket statement” telling them to stop “stanning” at all, Dexerto reported.

xQc believes they aren’t willing to do it because they “feel empowered” from having a loyal fanbase behind them, which he claims is the real problem. “It’s not about their fandom or their admiration,” he said.

“It’s about the feeling of power when they do something. It’s about seeing the impact of what they do that actually causes something. Because whatever they do in real life… amounts to nothing, and they have no power.”

“[For that reason,] whenever they tweet or they re-tweet [something and cause a stir], they can feel that they’re moving pieces somewhere, somehow, and it makes them feel empowered. I think that’s the real problem.”

Stanning alludes to the practice of being an overzealous or obsessive fan. It has been a hot topic for a while now.

Interestingly, stanning seems to be more prevalent in the Minecraft scene, especially after #CancelDreamStans trended in March 2021, which led to him calling out a small section of “horrible” fans.

There have been several other incidents involving Minecraft stans. While some people are urging streamers to try and stop the toxic behavior from their fans, xQc believes the real issue is the streamer’s ego that grows once they have massive followings.
