Vegas Legion Roasted For Using AI To Announce New Roster

CoD fans have brutally roasted Call of Duty League esports team Vegas Legion for announcing the new roster with the help of AI.

The first online qualifiers for the first Major of CDL’s 2024 season are right around the corner. Ahead of that, the League is finalising and approving the roster.

Moreover, squads are getting announced ahead of the Modern Warfare 3 season. On November 13, the Las Vegas Legion announced Attach, Nero, Standy, and Purj as the starting four.

Vegas Legion Uses AI-Generated Art To Announce New Roster

The announcement tweet overshadowed the big news. Notably, the tweet was accompanied by AI-generated portraits of the players, which was criticized by the community.

Unlike Legion, other teams created videos to announce their rosters, according to a report by Dexerto. Legion, on the other hand, announced the team with pictures made with the help of AI.

There are no prizes for guessing that the community noticed the use of AI. In fact, some hawk-eyed X users even pointed out the differing aspect ratios each picture has.

Aside from this, the background colors were inconsistent as well. There were incorrect details like Attach was wearing earrings.

According to the content and social lead for FaZe Clan Gursh, using AI for a roster announcement is “baffling”. “So many talented designers out there you could just slide a few bucks man what the f***.”

Former graphic designer for Legion Tee also reacted to the announcement saying, “so in the end AI really did take my job”.

“It’s just upsetting that nobody gains anything from this, no artist or designer gets to leave their mark in the CDL. There’s just an AI stain instead,” she added.

Also, Atlanta FaZe and Seattle Surge mocked the Legion and their use of AI. Attach said of the new team, “AI pics is crazy, but I’m excited to be teaming with Standy, Nero, and Purj. It’s going to be an amazing season”.
