Scump Explains Why ‘CoD Vanguard’ Should Scrap SBMM Permanently

Popular gamer Seth ‘Scump’ Abner wants Call of Duty: Vanguard to remove skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) permanently so that he can do more pub-stomp videos.

SBMM is a system that works to gauge an individual player’s skill and match them with other players at the same skill level.

It keeps lower-level players from getting stomped by players above their skill level but keeps high-level players playing against those with a similar skill level.

Previously, gamers had expressed disdain for SBMM in Black Ops Cold War. While some players enjoyed the challenge, others expected the game to be casual. They believe that rank-to-rank matchmaking should be held back for ranked queues and playlists.

Scump Wants SBMM To Be Removed Permanently

In the past, Call of Duty had allowed the best of the best i.e. CoD pros of eras gone to match up with first-timers, Christmas beginners, and more casual players. This gave rise to famous “pub stomp” videos, per Dexerto.

Scump especially leaned into these old playlist dominations, often uploading videos of him rampaging through casual queues. In one famous video, ‘SWEATBANNIN 88-0 Flawless,’ the OpTic pro was near-unstoppable with 88 kills.

Now, due to the presence of SBMM in the last few modern Call of Duty releases, pub stomping has come to an end and no such videos are being made. Thus, Scump is displeased.

In his recent YouTube video, the OpTic superstar was watching his 88-0 gameplay. While watching, he said that he can’t do pub stomp videos anymore due to SBMM. He termed it as a sad reality of CoD as now he can no longer pub stomp videos.

The related segment begins at 0:37 in the video below:

Scump wants to see Vanguard remove the feature. He believes that SBMM does not belong in Call of Duty. Abner has been protesting against SBMM from the Call of Duty franchise since it was first added in Black Ops 2.
