Elon Musk Plans To Give Creators More Incentive Than YouTube For Posting Content On Twitter

If transcripts from a staff Q&A are anything to go by, Elon Musk wants high-profile YouTubers to jump ship for more lucrative pay.

Tesla CEO allegedly told Twitter employees to persuade popular YouTubers to join Twitter with a 10 percent pay increase incentive amid the still raging streaming wars.

Musk recently introduced a myriad of new changes to Twitter including a few tweaks to the platform’s verification system. As expected, high-profile influencers have expressed their annoyance about these changes.

However, Musk is reportedly focusing on bringing YouTubers over to the platform. This speculation seems to be in line with earlier reports about increased video length on the platform.

In the transcripts from a staff Q&A at Twitter (via The Verge), Musk hinted at impending changes to Twitter’s video features. This could be a sign that creators could gain more incentive, provided they post their entire videos directly to the platform.

Elon Musk Wants YouTubers To Join Twitter

Creators currently just share links to their content on YouTube via a tweet. “Provided they are able to post their video on Twitter and monetize the video at least to the same degree as on YouTube, then naturally, they would just post their video on Twitter as well,” Musk said during the call. “

In the transcript, Musk advised employees to get YouTubers to sign exclusive contracts to upload content on Twitter. their current deals will comprise a 10 percent pay increase.

“Let’s just get a bunch of content creators that we think are cool on YouTube and say, ‘Hey, would you consider putting your content on Twitter, and we’ll pay you 10% more than YouTube and see how it goes?’” Musk continued.

“Please do it. Let’s take action … So if you can do it after this meeting, I would do it after this meeting.”

It is unclear whether noted creators will prefer sharing their content on Twitter rather than YouTube, and other existing video-sharing platforms. In the meantime, Musk is sparing no effort to tweak Twitter.
