On Jan. 29, several truckers in the “Freedom Convoy” entered Ottawa, with some of them blocking roads outside of Parliament buildings. They were honking loudly and brandishing Canadian flags.
Aside from that, thousands of truckers were carrying “F–k [Prime Minister Justin] Trudeau” banners. On Friday. To recall, GoFundMe stopped the release of nearly $10 million in donations to the group, citing connection with “the promotion of violence and harassment” during the Ottawa protest.
“We now have evidence from law enforcement that the previously peaceful demonstration has become an occupation, with police reports of violence and other unlawful activity,” GoFundMe wrote in a statement (via NY Post).
Moreover, donors can ask for a refund until Feb. 19. Likewise, the rest of the money raised by the group will be given to “credible and established charities” that have been picked by Freedom Convoy organizers.
Also, Facebook removed a page by US truckers prepping to ride from California to Washington DC for another protest, earlier this week.
