Twitch star Zack, who is known by his alias Asmongold has divulged some details about “super serious” racism he saw in World of Warcraft. The American YouTuber described the discrimination he has witnessed as some of the “worst stuff” a human can do.
Even about 16 years after its release, World of Warcraft remains the most popular MMORPG. Regrettably, Azeroth is plagued with a systemic racism problem, according to Nick ‘Nmplol’ Polom, who made headlines when he said he hoped everyone would stop playing the game.
Professional players subjected Nmplol to incessant racism, which led to him having a “bad time” playing World of Warcraft. He believes if people stop playing the title, it will teach those players a lesson. He was understandably happy when Asmongold switched to playing other MMORPGs, even though it was temporary, per Dexerto.
Asmongold supported him, divulging details about a “super serious” racist incident he witnessed. “There was… a guild on Faerlina, my server, and they found out that a guy was black and they kicked him out of the guild,” he said.
After kicking him, they’d re-invite him back into the guild, and then ask him if he was “still black.” Then they’d kick him once again while laughing amongst themselves. “This is actually really bad stuff,” he said. “It’s like… super serious racism. It’s the legitimate worst stuff you could possibly do.”
However, his comments seem to coincide with Nmplol’s recent claims about racism running rampant in World of Warcraft in the professional circles. Aside from that, it raises awareness and hopefully will help change it.
