Elon Musk-led aerospace company Space X’s satellite broadband business division, Starlink will launch its broadband services in India.
Starlink is gearing up to launch its broadband services in the country in Dec., next year. The company is currently waiting for approval from the Indian government for 200,000 active terminals, according to a report from NewsTrackLive.
Starlink Coming To India
Director for India at Starlink, Sanjay Bhargava shared a LinkedIn post on the first day in office. In his post, Bhargava stated that the company has received a whopping 5,000 pre-orders in the country.
Moreover, he pointed out that Starlink will be providing broadband services even in rural areas. He is currently aiming to provide 200,000 terminals in India by Dec. 2022.
However, he stated that the actual figure depends on whether the company gets government approval. Starlink is taking a deposit amount of INR 7,350 (about $99) to join the priority list for customers.
When the service is activated, the company will adjust the pre-order deposit against monthly fees. Aside from that, Starlink will be speeding up data in the range of 50 to 150 megabytes in the beta stage.
Tesla Enters African Market
Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company, Tesla has made its foray into the African market, by launching its first two Supercharger stations in Morocco.
Employing supercharger stations is usually the first step toward Tesla making its foray into a new market, according to Electrek.
The new stations are available at the Al Houara Resort and Spa in Tangier and the Onomo Hotel in Casablanca. However, each station houses only four supercharger stalls.
On top of that, they adopt the previous generation of Tesla’s Supercharger technology and provide v2 150 kW.
