Psyonix Reveals Changes Coming To ‘Rocket League’ On PlayStation 5 And Xbox Series X/S

Rocket League: Much to the relief of Rocket League‘s huge fanbase, Psyonix’s hit vehicular soccer video game isn’t being left out of the next-gen enhancements action.

San Diego based video game developer, Psyonix recently divulged details about the changes coming to Rocket League on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 before the end of 2020. In a new blog post on the four-wheeled footie game’s official website, Psyonix noted that it has two batches of updates for the next-gen consoles.

The first batch of updates will be rolled out on the launch day and will boost Rocket League to 1080p/60fps with HDR on Series S and 4K/60fps with HDR on Xbox Series X. PlayStation 5 owners, meanwhile, can enjoy 4K (checkerboard) at 60fps with HDR, and all next-gen consoles will offer faster load times, as well as enhanced split-screen performance.

The second batch of updates, on the other hand, has only been announced for Xbox Series X/S and will have a new Video Quality setting added to the Video tab of the game’s Settings menu. This will enable players to choose between Quality and Performance, which Psyonix explains as follows:

Xbox Series X

Quality:

4K resolution at 60 FPS with HDR
Performance:

The game runs at 2688×1512 resolution (70% of full 4K) at 120 FPS with HDR
Xbox Series S

Quality:

1080p Resolution at 60 FPS with HDR
Performance:

Rocket League runs at 1344×756 (70% of Full 1080p) Resolution at 120 FPS with HDR

Moreover, Psyonix confirmed that players will be able to access their existing Rocket Pass progress and inventory on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S through Epic Games Account. Watch this space for the latest video games news.
