Geekbench has delisted the Samsung Galaxy S22 Series amid the South Korean company’s internal investigation of limited Galaxy S-Series performance.
It was recently found that Samsung was limiting the performance of its flagship Galaxy S22 series smartphones. Moreover, the company limited the performance of more than 1,000 that were added to the GOS (Game Optimising Service) list.
For those who are unaware, GOS optimizes system performance, while preventing thermal issues. However, it was found that the service was actually blocking these apps from taking advantage of the chip’s full capacity.
The apps added to the GOS list include Microsoft Office, LinkedIn, Snapchat, and a myriad of popular games. However, benchmark apps like 3D Mark and Geekbench are not included in the list.
Citing the GOS fiasco, Geekbench has delisted the Galaxy S22 series smartphones. Aside from that, the benchmark website removed a slew of older smartphones from the Android Benchmark chart from the Geekbench Browser.
Geekbench Delists Samsung Galaxy S22 Series
Now, Geekbench’s Android Benchmark Chart does not include the Galaxy S22 series. This removal comes after the lineup was found to limit the performance of multiple apps.
GOS decides whether or not to throttle apps using application identifiers, rather than application behavior. During its internal testing, Geekbench found that the Galaxy S22 series, S21 series, S20 series, and the S10 series used GOS.
Today we delisted these handsets from the Android Benchmark chart on the Geekbench Browser.

We view this as a form of benchmark manipulation as major benchmark applications, including Geekbench, are not throttled by this service.

All devices under the aforesaid flagship smartphones that were listed on Geekbench have been removed from the Android Benchmark Chart, as per a report by MySmartPrice.
Geekbench clarified stating that GOS decides whether to throttle or not throttle an app’s performance using identifiers and not application behavior. This is a type of a benchmark manipulation, the website explained.
Samsung’s Clarification
In its defense, Samsung reportedly claims that GOS on the S22 series is supposed to restrict excessive overheating during long gameplay.
Furthermore, the company said it will soon roll out a software update. This update will bring a performance priority option in the game booster lab within the game launcher app.
Aside from that, Samsung says it is carrying out an internal investigation on the matter. Regrettably, it is still unclear when the update will roll out.
However, Samsung is not the only company accused of manipulating app performance. Leading companies have been found of manipulating app performance in the past.
To recall, OnePlus has throttled the performance of more than 300 apps on the OnePlus 9 series to prevent heating issues.
Likewise, Realme had come under fire for tampering with the performance of its Realme GT smartphone. Realme allegedly aimed at getting a higher benchmark score on AnTuTu. As expected, it is no longer in the official AnTuTu listing.
