An Overwatch skin concept artist created a Pink Brigitte skin akin to the 2018 Pink Mercy skin to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In 2018, Blizzard provided a Pink Mercy skin at $14.99. This was done to raise funds to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. More than $12.7 million (USD) were raised.
It was the largest donation by a corporate partner within one year in BCRF’s 25-year history
Players had also shown their support for the cause by purchasing limited-edition Pink Mercy T-shirts, available for men and women, designed by community artist VICKISIGH.
Blizzard never organized another event for Breast Cancer Awareness. Last year, players had requested Game Director Jeff Kaplan to bring back the special Pink Mercy skin.
Overwatch artist creates Pink Brigitte skin
An Overwatch artist known as ‘amandazerepp’ created concept art of a new skin for Brigitte. The artist said that the skin concept art was made for the Breast Cancer Awareness month coming in October. The post has garnered over 4,100 upvotes on Reddit.
The design had a pink flail, shield, and rally flag along with gray leg armor. Her shield displays the head of a goat, a reference to the GOATS meta that she was a part of in the Overwatch League. Her breastplate and vambraces have also been reduced.
The artist also explained the purpose of creating the skin. They said that they wanted to make something meaningful and create a skin that matches Mercy’s pink skin. The artist said that a coworker who was a breast cancer survivor was motivated to create the concept art.
The artist said that this was inspired by her and he felt that having Brigitte match with Mercy is the best idea for skin like this. According to Dexerto, Overwatch 2 is expected to release before the summer of 2022.
