Valkyrae Jokes About 2022 Retirement Plans, Fans Left In Panic

Much to the chagrin of her fans, Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter hinted at a 2022 retirement, when her current contract is slated to end.

Valkyrae made her “valktwt” fandom nervous after she joked about retiring early next year because her 30th birthday is approaching.

The 29-year-old streamer had opened up about her exit plans before. She has admitted that she will stop streaming when she no longer enjoys playing games. Aside from that, Rae has suggested that she will stop interacting with fans.

Valkyrae Jokes About Retiring

“Look, it’s almost time to retire,” Valkyrae joked. She attributed her decision to her age. “Really, Granny Rae will be over the hill in just a few weeks, a few weeks! The end, it’s just a few weeks now.”

While Rae laughed after saying this, her YouTube fans were not thrilled with the suggestion. Taking to the comments section, they urged her to think twice about what they believed was a legitimate decision.

“Please Rae, I don’t want to think about it,” one fan wrote.

Fans Panic After Rae Jokes About Leaving YouTube

Others claimed that the YouTube star still has several years left in her streaming career. One fan went as far as saying, “I’d die” multiple times in response before the reply disappeared, per Dexerto.

Rae was only joking about leaving YouTube in the coming weeks. The only reason it may have to seem legitimate to fans is that her YouTube contract will be expiring soon. As a result, Rae will be a free agent soon.

It is highly unlikely that Valkyrae will hang up the microphone after the end of her YouTube deal. However, some fans believe it is a very possible future.

This is not the first time she has shed light on her potential retirement plans. Rae has admitted that if she ever decides to stop streaming entirely, it would be to focus on investing and business.

“I’ve been thinking about it a lot,” she said at the time. “There’s definitely going to be a time in my life where I pivot. I don’t want to live this way [streaming fame] for the rest of my life. I don’t know when, but it’s been on my mind. Social media especially, I just can’t stand it, it’s so difficult.”

“All the trolls, and hate, and creepiness,” she added. “I just don’t think this fame is that fulfilling. It’s incredibly invasive. It [quitting] has been on my mind a lot.”
