TikToker Addison Rae faced backlash from netizens after TV host Andy Cohen compared her to Britney Spears during an interview.
Addison Rae is one of the most popular social media stars with over 80 million followers on TikTok. Last month, she featured in Netflix’s He’s All That, a remake of the 90’s classic She’s All That.
The film received mixed reviews and Rae’s poor acting skills were criticized. Later, she urged people to give her a chance to prove herself as an actress.
During an interview, Rae had speculated that critics might have a harder time seeing her as a character than a TikToker. Thus, critics aren’t content with her status as a TikToker-turned-actor.
Recently, Addison Rae has featured in Andy Cohen’s talk show Watch What Happens: Live along with Jason Biggs.
During the interview, Rae expressed support for Spears during the pop star’s ongoing legal battle over her conservatorship and expressed great admiration for her with hopes to meet her one day. Andy compared Rae to Britney Spears and this led to netizens slamming the TikToker.
One commentator wrote that there is no comparison to a legend in the music industry to Rae. Another user questioned that who in their right mind compared Rae to Britney Spears? Thus, commentators were vexed with Cohen’s comparison of Addison Rae to Britney Spears.
Although Spears and Rae haven’t met, the two have made headlines together previously. In an interview with Bustle in April, Rae had compared herself to Spears. She said that she could relate to Britney Spears’ overwhelming life amid the speculation surrounding the recent Framing Britney Spears documentary. This statement too didn’t please netizens and they criticized Rae.
Thus, this is the second time that she made headlines with Britney Spears and people didn’t take that too well either.
