Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos Tops Bloomberg Billionaires Index List

Jeff Bezos witnessed an erosion of $3.12 billion as on Sept. 12, along with Sergey Brin, Larry Page, Steve Ballmer, Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates saw a drop in their wealth too.

Bernard Arnault, Mukesh Ambani, Elon Musk, on the other hand, witnessed a rise in their wealth. The total net worth of RIL (Reliance Industries Limited) Mukesh Ambani increased by $382 million, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index list on Sept. 12.

Ambani’s net worth saw a sharp rise on Sept. 11, helping him move to fifth position and overtake Bernard Arnault and Warren Buffett. The surge in his total net worth can be attributed to the fact that RIL is mulling over the idea of selling a stake in its retail arm to Amazon, and this led to a surge in the price of RIL shares.

The net worth of the US-based investors declined due to the US stock closing lower. This was one of the worst weeks for the IT companies listed in the US stock market since several IT companies’ shared saw a fall due to sell-off for profit booking.

Large IT companies were affected this week, according to CNBC with Facebook and Amazon each losing over 5 percent. Netflix and Apple slipped by 6.6 percent and 7.4 percent, respectively.

Microsoft and Alphabet saw an erosion of over 4 percent. Tesla was hit the most in terms of percentage as its stock prices plunged 10.9 percent this week. Here’s how much the world’s top 10 richest people are worth as of Sept. 12.
