Gawr Gura spoke out about speculations surrounding her move from YouTube to Twitch while shedding more light on her content plans for 2022.
The rumor mill has been churning out speculations suggesting that Gawr Gura is prepping to move from YouTube to Twitch. The Hololive EN star recently addressed these rumors as she opened up about the content she plans to offer this year.
Even if it’s for just one stream, Gawr Gura will be following in the footsteps of Hololive’s other stars who made the switch. Gawr Gura is the biggest VTuber with a YouTube fanbase of about 4 million. So, the idea of a potential Twitch stream raised quite a few eyebrows.
Is Gawr Gura Planning To Move From YouTube To Twitch?
The fan-favorite Hololive EN star made her YouTube debut in 2020 and has since streamed exclusively on the Google-owned platform. However, Usada Pekora and other Hololive JP stars have jumped on Twitch in a bid to further expand their content base with reaction content, and other similar things.
However, it is still unclear whether the group’s English stars will be following in their footsteps. In a stream, Gura asked, “How about a Twitch channel for [reaction content]?’ Some of the Hololive JP members stream on Twitch, they do watchalongs and stuff.”
“I think it’s only a couple at a time,” she added. “Nobody from EN has done that yet so I wonder if that’s something they’re going to want to do this year.”
Gura does not have any formal plans to stream on Twitch. According to a report by Dexerto, the VTuber wasn’t even sure if moving from YouTube onto the Amazon-owned platform was an entirely good idea. Nevertheless, she didn’t completely reject the idea, even if it’s just for one stream.

Switching to Twitch would enable Gura to host a more casual “Just Chatting” style stream with her audience. Furthermore, she can react to content like most of Twitch’s biggest names.
“Twitch is different. It’s just a whole different atmosphere for streaming. At the end of the day it’s still streaming, but it’s just different,” she said.
“There’s a lot of lingo that I don’t know about. They have their own words and phrases and stuff I don’t know. I know some of the words make it over here, but I feel like Twitch chat is less conversation and more massive walls of emotes.
“I’m not going to say it’s good or bad — it’s just scary.”
