Elon Musk, Erdogan Discuss Space Travel, Driverless Cars & More

Elon Musk and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke about space and discussed cooperation on space technology.

Elon Musk and Recep Tayyip Erdogan reportedly spoke about cooperating on satellite and space technology. Aside from that, they discussed electricity-powered driverless cars.

Moreover, their conversation included Turkey’s plans to launch the Turksat 5-B satellite into space, according to a series of tweets from Erdogan’s office.

The Tesla and SpaceX founder wants space travel more affordable. Moreover, Musk is focusing more on colonizing Mars. Musk’s electric vehicle company, Tesla manufactures clean energy products. These include cars with self-driving capabilities and electric cars.

Elon Musk Helps Turkey To Launch Its Turksat 5A

In Jan., Turkey launched its Turksat 5A satellite into space with the help of a SpaceX rocket. Aside from that, Erdogan and Musk spoke about the satellites in January on phone. In 22017, they met to talk about sustainable energy and electric cars, according to a report by Al-Monitor.

Moreover, Erdogan thanked Musk for helping with the launch of Turksat 5A with an NFT (non-fungible token) of satellite art created by children.

“It is an honor for me to talk with President Erdogan again,” Musk said about the conversation, according to a Turkish government release. Furthermore, Musk reportedly plans to visit Turkey soon.

The Musk-Erdogan meeting took place amid Turkey’s ongoing economic crisis and the continued drop in the value of the Turkish lira.
