Coby ‘Dizzy’ Meadows, who was once touted as the best Apex Legends player, recently opened up on why he went into a lengthy hiatus and quit the game.
If you have played Apex Legends while it was still garnering popularity among the battle royale genre, it is highly likely that you’d seen a clip or two from Dizzy. His sharp aim, coupled with his extraordinary movement made him one of the most followed personalities in the community.
Regrettably, his run at the top of the title came to a screeching halt back in Dec. 2019. The 20-year old deviated his focus from pro play to streaming – a career shift that led him to abandon the internet altogether.
After months of remaining mum, Dizzy made a comeback to streaming on a more casual basis. It is worth noting that Apex Legends is not his main title anymore. While playing the game for the first time on Stream for Lulu’s Throwdown event, he revealed why he decided to quit the title, Dexerto reported.
When asked why he stopped playing Apex Legends, Dizzy told his viewers on Twitch, “I just stopped enjoying it.” Sitting in a queue, landing, looting, you get sh*t loot, bad RNG, you die, you’re back in the queue waiting again. It’s very repetitive,” he added.
“I feel like it’s easy to burnout on,” he said. “Especially if you’re streaming 8+ hours a day.”
This process is similar across the entire battle royale genre, so Dizzy pointed out that is where his issues lied. He clarified that he was not driven to quit due to anything specific in Apex Legends.
“This game’s not bad, this game’s good. It’s definitely one of the best, if not the best BR game to play, but it’s just exhausting.” Although he has returned to play the game on stream for this one-off event, there is no guarantee that it might reignite his passion for Apex Legends.
Since returning, Dizzy has been playing Valorant though fans were excited to see him return to the BR, even if it was for a short period. Stay tuned in here for the latest e-sports news.
